If you have an illness or condition that will be with you for a long time, perhaps even for life, you will almost certainly find yourself wondering what your life will be like from now on. How much will it change? Do you need to rethink your plans and expectations?
You may feel confused, shocked, or even relieved when you find out why you’ve been feeling unwell. Our thinking tools will help you to look at what has happened, to make plans and to get the right support. They can’t control your illness, but they can help you regain control over its place in your life.
You can go through the thinking tools in order, or just fill in the sections that feel relevant to you. You can complete the thinking tools by yourself, but many people find it best to work with family, friends or staff. Some people like to work with one other person, others prefer to work in a small group.
We’ve created three stages in the long-term condition journey: discovery, treatment, and self care.
The stages appear on the right of every page in the long-term condition journey. Just click on a stage, and use the thinking tools we suggest.
Alternatively, you can create your own path by picking the thinking tools yourself from the list on the right, or from our complete set of thinking tools.
Whichever route you take, your first step is to register with Think About Your life. The thinking tools are easy to use once you’ve done this, and there are some simple instructions here:
